You might be thinking, “Mike, we know you like to eat, but Great Scott!”.
The truth is that I’ve tasted and sampled more chili than perhaps 90% of other humans on the planet. Probably 95%, or even 98%!
Who else can accurately claim that they’ve sampled many dozens of different types of chili?
But unfortunately, this experience hasn’t really afforded me any great insights.
Well, perhaps one insight that’s worthy of sharing.
That insight, is that the majority of the chili absolutely sucked. It tried to be something that it wasn’t.
Of course, my opinion isn’t the golden bastion of all things chili, but I did learn something here.
The best chili, was usually the simplest. Most often, the champion chili remained true to the basics.
No strange ingredients, no fuss, and no yearning for excellence, or to be different.
The best chili I’ve ever tried, was simply basic chili executed well.
Talk later.
