Have you ever been frustrated, because you get boatloads of spam email?
I tell you, I’ve been getting so much spam lately, it’s almost as if someone is signing me up to receive egregious emails all the time hah.
(It wasn’t YOU was it? Come on! I thought we were pals?).
Seriously though, there’s a big difference between being an email marketer, and just being a pest.
What’s The Difference Between An Email Marketer And A Pest?
The main difference is that the pest needs something, wants something, and is continually trying to sell you something.
Annoying right? Who the hell wants to be sold to?
But not so fast – because email marketers are selling something too…
There’s A Not So Subtle Difference…
Because the email marketer sells in artful ways that aren’t shameful, annoying, or pestering.
In fact, an email marketer worth their salt tries their damnedest to:
- Entertain you
- Excite you
- Inspire you
- Educate you
A Pest? Heck, They Can Never See Past Day One
And there is the biggest difference of all.
Email marketers see way past day numero uno.
They see the big picture.
They see things that the pest will never see.
A future upon which their email subscribers stay subscribed for years.
It’s something I’ve accomplished, and to my honor, you’re still with me.
So What’s My Advice Going Forward?
Don’t be a pest.
Treat your subscribers right.
Entertain them. Teach them. Excite them. Inspire them.
Be cool.
It’s okay to sell stuff, but you should be artful and dynamic in your emails.
