The Components Of A Sales Funnel Explained
Have you ever been overwhelmed because everyone talks about the importance of having an awesome sales funnel, but you have no clue what the heck they’re talking about?
If that’s the case, then this blog post is for you. I’ve been studying the art and science of sales funnels and want to reveal exactly what a sales funnel is, in terms of the components that make one up.
Sales Funnel Component # 1 – Your Initial Sales Page
This is arguably the most important component of your sales funnel!
This is the page that sells your product or service, by making effective utilization of sales copywriting.
The cool part is that these days there are so many different styles you can use as a sales page.
For example, you could have a written long-form sales letter, a video sales letter, or maybe a hybrid sales letter with a video sales letter and also some text.
The reason I would argue that the sales page is the most important part of your sales funnel, is because if your end users never make it past this part, then they’ll never see your one time upsells, or even your order confirmation page.
One of the most important parts of your sales page, is your “Add To Cart” button. After your end user clicks on the “Add To Cart” button, then the end user is sent to your Order Form Page.
Sales Funnel Component # 2 – Your Order Form Page
The order form page is the page that your end user lands on if they showcase interest in your product, and click on the “Add To Cart” button that’s on your sales page.
Your order form page is designed to process the order of your customer.
These days, there are all kinds of awesome and creative ways you can customize and brand your order form page so that your customers knows exactly what they’re about to get, and so that they recognize your branding signals.
Also, these days many sales funnel software tools will allow you to add upsells right on the order page simply by utilizing a check box, or a tick box. What this means, is that you can promote additional products and services on your order form page; your customer can simply check a box if they would like to purchase any additional offers.
Additionally, you could also include a checkbox on this page that will invite your customers to join your email newsletter, which might be a really cool addition to your order flow, especially if you publish an awesome email newsletter.
Sales Funnel Component # 3 – Your One Time Offer Upsell Page
After your end user clicks on the “Add To Cart” page, and after they fill out the form on the order page, they can then be taken to a one time offer upsell page.
This is a page that can be in video or text format. The main idea of the one time offer page is to promote additional products and service that should ideally compliment the main offer.
This way, you can hope to statistically increase the amount of the order, while still serving your customer well.
The best part about a one time offer upsell, is that this is a potential sale that you would never have gained otherwise, so as long as the offer is relevant to the main offer that you promoted, then I think that upsells can be a very wise and smart business practice. I mention this, because some sellers might object to offering an upsell, but I would argue that an effective upsell can potentially increase the overall revenue that a product funnel generates, while still offering more value to the end user.
Sales Funnel Component # 4 – Your Confirmation Page
The confirmation page is in my opinion one of the most underrated components of a sales funnel!
In my opinion, you should always remember that only your very best end users are going to be seeing your confirmation page, because these are the people that actually pulled their wallet out and purchased your course.
The reason why this page is underrated, is because there are so many awesome things you can do with a confirmation page.
For example, you can promote absolutely anything that you want on your confirmation page.
You could promote a free gift, a lead magnet, an automated webinar funnel, or an entirely different sales funnel, an affiliate offer, your social media profile, or a personal thank you message thanking your audience for purchasing your product.
Whatever you do, make sure that your confirmation showcases your gratitude for your end user’s business, and for bonus points create an awesome welcome video, or at least a customized welcome message telling your customer how awesome they are, and how thankful you were to be able to serve them.
Sales Funnel Component # 5 – Your Membership Page Or Download Page
How are you going to deliver your actual product? That’s what this final part of the sales funnel process is all about.
So let’s pretend that you’re selling a digital course. Well, ask yourself, how do your students gain access to your course?
Maybe you could have a simple download page with access to your course. This would be the easiest process by far, however, if your membership area isn’t password protected, then there’s a good chance that you’ll be increasing the instances of piracy around your product, which I can tell you is a tad frustrating.
That’s why having a password protected membership area might be a genius strategy.
That way, after your customer buys your course, your sales funnel could then automatically send your customer an email with instructions for creating their login and password for your membership website.
So your content is secure, your customer feels as though that you’re super smart tech wizard, and you can be confident that your end user will have enjoy your awesome course by experiencing a professional looking presentation.
One Last Word About Membership Funnels And The Unimaginable Beauty Of Sales Funnels…
Also, one last thing I have to mention, is that if you have a membership area, this is another awesome opportunity to cross-sell some of your products, services, or maybe even recommended affiliate offers.
One of the main benefits of having a sales funnel, is your own creativity!
Never forget that there is no right or wrong way to build a sales funnel.
The only thing we can do, is experiment and test!
You’re only limited by your own creativity; so please have the courage to experiment, and test on your own.
