The best thing about the political season is all of the email promotions you can get from politicians.
They have marketing budgets well into the millions… So you know they are paying top dollar for some smart marketing on their behalf.
You want a hot tip?
Opt-in to as many political newsletters as you can. (There are about 16-20 big politicians running for president of the USA, those are good places to start).
You can learn a ton just by paying attention.
Ben Carson for example writes really good emails.
(Or, whoever his email copywriter is, they write really good emails haha).
One thing I love about this… Is that they know how to tug at your most powerful emotions.
They find out what you’re passionate about (by polling you) and then they YANK at those powerful feelings.
Then they have a call to action (to donate, or to vote) – and they invoke the most powerful scarcity that they possibly can…
Because if the candidate loses the election? Then all of your most dreadful fears are sure to come true.
:]
And To The Email Victor Go The Spoils
It kind of reminds me of this course I made on email copywriting strategy the other day right here…
Because you can have the biggest list in the world…
But what if you have no idea what to send?
What if you have no idea what they want?
And what if you suffer from writer’s block right out of the gate?
People Like Us Don’t Have Million Dollar Marketing Budgets…
So we can’t hire the top marketers on the planet.
The only thing we can do, is figure out what our end users want, and then give it to them.
And, it definitely helps if you can interact in a way that keeps your subscribers interested, motivated, entertained, and yes – eager to take action.
Food for thought, and talk later
