I propose to you, that being an online teacher is the best opportunity of 2017.
The funny part, is that it doesn’t even matter what type of experience you have.
You can be a lawyer, doctor, freelancer, astrophysicist, gourmet cookie chef, pro blogger, or someone who loves to grow tomatoes in their garden.
Teaching online courses has never been easier, and the online teaching platforms out there are so massive these days, that you don’t even need an audience to get started.
The only thing you need, is to figure out what type of content you’d like to share with the world.
Because, no matter what type of experience you have, it’s never been easier to turn that into an awesome course.
Take it from me. I started teaching a few years ago, and have amassed thousands of online students on different teaching platforms.
And I’m a shy, introverted, socially awkward nerd. I certainly don’t have those Hollywood looks, and I’ve had plenty of students tell me that my voice is insufferably annoying (lol, sorry, yo).
So, if I can launch a boatload of online courses, imagine what you can do?
What about the future of the online learning industry? Here’s my two cents.
Online learning is something that’s not going away.
The demand is going to skyrocket into the future as people realize that it’s 10x more cost productive to teach and learn online.
In 2015 Forbes wrote that the online learning industry was poised for $107 billion.
Imagine what’s going to happen over the next decade, as more and more Universities and people look to pick up their skills online instead of inside a traditional brick and mortar institution.
Your demand is going to skyrocket.
So, why not use this time to build an audience in this exciting space?
It won’t cost you a single red cent to get started.
Unlike most business plans, being an online teacher doesn’t even cost much.
In fact, you probably already have everything you need.
- Do you have Microsoft Office, or any slide sharing application?
- Do you have a cheap USB microphone that you can snag on Amazon for about $50?
- Do you have a desktop recording application that you can get for free or cheap?
- Do you have the desire to actually help people learn whatever it is that you want to teach?
Anyone can teach a course of their dreams. Even if you hate the tech side of things.
I’ve spoken to a ton of prospective teachers, and many of them are frightened because they believe that the technical requirements of teaching is too high.
They’re egregiously wrong.
The truth is that, these days, there are so many course platforms that make teaching easy. Too easy.
All you have to do is upload your course content, and your course is done.
These days, teaching is ridiculously easy.
There are massive marketplaces you can tap into that do all of the heavy lifting for you.
- They host your video content.
- They host your sales letters. They collect payments.
- They make sure that your students get access to your courses after they pay.
- They make creating a course “drag and drop” simple.
In fact, the ONLY thing you need, THE ONE THING you need to be a successful online teacher – is the desire to help people.
Because everything else is already taken care of.
You can tap into the online teaching platforms out there (and there are many of them) without paying a single red cent.
You can outline your course, create some cool slides, and then teach your heart out.
Nobody can stop you.
It’s the lowest cost of entry for a business plan that I’m personally aware of.
And, if you hit the right notes, your content has the chance to change the lives of all you interact with.
Just my humble two cents, and I thank you for reading.
