I launched my first video course around October of 2014.
It was a smashing success! The WarriorForum.com actually promoted my course, and I had awesome reviews when it’s all said and done.
(Of course there were a few haters lol, but the majority thought the course rocked).
Not bad for a few hours work right?
To be honest, at that time, I didn’t realize how beautiful and awesome it was to be an online teacher.
I remember before I launched my first Udemy course, I thought it was just too much of a hassle.
I remember trying to upload a course to Udemy a few years back, and I just figured it wasn’t worth the effort to be honest.
Then, I Finally Mustered The Courage To Publish My First Udemy Course. I’m So Glad That I Did.
The first Udemy course I ever launched was around September of 2015. It had over 1,000 students enroll, and the rating is sitting around 4.5 right now (out of 5) which is totally cool.
Anyway, after I took the plunge to publish my second course (which was my first Udemy course) about one year ago, I started to launch more and more.
So, The First Step Is To Create Your First Online Course.
After you create your first online course and publish it, either on Udemy, or Teachable… A few funny things are going to happen.
- You’ll realize how easy it is to launch online courses. You’ll wonder why you didn’t publish them before. You’ll realize that you’ve wasted a lot of time up until now.
- You’ll crack a massive smile every time someone enrolls in your course, or gives you a rave review.
- You’ll have a never-ending-supply of motivation, because you’ll know for a fact that people are having their lives changed due to your content.
- You’ll have a never-ending-raging-river of new course ideas that come at you all the time. Your new problem, (which is a high quality problem), will be what course to publish next.
To Be Honest, That’s The Master Secret To Publishing Online Courses. That’s How I Published 20 Courses In One Year.
People are often disappointed when they learn how simple things are. 🙂
The truth is that, I’m not magical. I don’t have any special powers.
I just LOVE to help people, and I love to teach.
If you’re in the same boat, then teaching is not only going to be natural for you, but you’ll also be living your dream every time you publish a new course.
That’s How I Published 20 Courses In One Year. I Leveraged The Existing Marketplaces Out There.
My two favorite online teaching platforms are easily Teachable and Udemy.
If you’re new to teaching online, definitely check those two platforms.
They make it so simple to teach online, that literally anyone can teach, regardless of your level of skill (even if you’re drastically technically challenged).
In fact, I’m bold enough to say that there’s NEVER been a better time to be an online teacher. Period.
There’s Never Been A Better Time To Be A Teacher.
I remember when I first launched my first course JUST a few years ago, it was a massive hassle.
- I hand to hand-code my website.
- I had to design a thank you page, AND a download page.
- I had to design a sales letter that was halfway decent.
- I had to SECURE my product so that it wasn’t easily pirated.
- I had to setup the payment gateway, and the payment processor.
- I had to route the purchase to my thank you page so that customers received their purchase.
- This is ON TOP OF being the graphic designer, the copywriter, the researcher and developer, and promoting the course content.
- (One other thing that was a HUGE hassle back in the day, was hosting video on your site. This is trickier than it sounds).
The point of this rant, is that these days you can SKIP 90% of the hassle that early online teachers had to face.
So, you don’t have to be a tech-god to launch your first course.
If you’re savvy enough to read this blog post, then you can easily create awesome content.
Maybe You’re Thinking That You’re Not Talented Enough To Teach?
A lot of my colleagues and friends have told me that they’d love to teach, but they’re not “skilled” enough.
The reality is that, anyone can teach.
It doesn’t matter who you are, or where you’re from, I’m confident that you can share SOMETHING with the world.
Maybe you know how to fix stuff. Or build things. Or teach. Or code. Or sing. Or how to stay in shape. Or how to design really cool graphics.
I’m confident, that no matter where you are, you can teach something.
“But What If My Course Topic Has Already Been Taught A Million Times?”
Another objection you might have, is that your course topic has already been taught.
My advice, is that this is a GOOD sign.
If your course topic is popular, it simply means that there’s more demand for it.
A lot of people might argue with this point, but just ask yourself this question.
If you love a topic, do you want to get only ONE course on the topic, or multiple courses?
Here’s a better example.
If you’re a zombie fan, do you want to watch ONE zombie movie, or AS MANY ZOMBIE MOVIES as you possibly can?
Here’s My Advice Going Forward.
The truth of the matter is that you can teach beautiful content.
Confidence and mindset are by far the most important things.
If you love teaching, and realize how easy it is to be an instructor these days, I believe that you’re statistically more likely to be a smashing success.
Because you’ll realize how good you have it. You’ll realize how easy everything is.
And, all of these benefits compound on one another.
The more courses you have, the more students you get, and the more goodwill and authority you’ll generate.
It all starts, by being confident enough to create your first course.
Even If You Fail, What Do You Really Have To Lose?
If you launch a course, and NOBODY buys it, what have you really lost?
Absolutely nothing.
And, you can even USE that course as an asset.
Maybe you give it away as a free bonus for your next course.
Or, if you ever promote any other products, you could give that course away as a bonus.
The point is, creating courses is so easy these days, that there shouldn’t be any friction holding you back.
Your next step, is to realize how easy it is.
And to publish your first course.
After that, your creativity and energy will takeoff like you’ve never before envisioned.
Thanks for reading, and please have a beautiful day.
