The First Thing You Need To Know About Generating Leads As An Insurance Agent, Is What Your Ideal Prospect Wants!
I honestly believe that any lead generation campaign starts with the end-user. In your case, your ideal insurance prospect. The strategy of understanding what your prospect wants is vital.
So, let’s analyze your ideal insurance prospect. What are you selling as an insurance agent? Are you selling auto insurance? Home insurance? Life insurance? Let me ask you this. What are you selling as an insurance agent? Are you selling peace of mind?
What Are You Selling As An Insurance Agent?
- Are you helping a business owner protect their business with liability insurance?
- Are you helping a parent find the perfect auto insurance for their family?
- Maybe you’re helping to sell health insurance to low-income family members, and they need all the help they can get choosing the best plan possible?
- Or maybe you sell life insurance to those parents concerned for the future of their loved ones?
What Are The Top 10 Frustrations That Your Ideal Prospects Face As An Insurance Agent?
Spend time brainstorming your ideal prospect, and how you can help!
I have experience working in the IT sector. (Yikes!) I know from personal experience, that people are incredibly stressed out! I always noticed that everyone was very stressed out when they experience tech troubles. Can you relate as an insurance agent? Do you notice that your clients seem super stressed out?
Always remember, that your insurance prospects are probably stressed out when choosing a new insurance policy. Whether they’re shopping for life insurance or new healthcare policy, their choices are nearly endless, and their choices aren’t getting any easier these days.
In other words, your ideal prospect is frustrated, and stressed out!
That’s one of the major pain points you should consider as you brainstorm your ideal insurance prospect. Take me for example.
Whenever it’s time to choose new health insurance, it’s the most stressful part of the year. Can you relate? More importantly, can your ideal insurance clients relate?
Keep these ideas and frustrations in mind as you work to device marketing content and content marketing ideas for your insurance prospects in the future!
Let’s Brainstorm The Pain Points That Your Ideal Insurance Clients Face
- They find their insurance choices overwhelming!
- They find that their current insurance is lacking, but they’re not sure what upgradeable options exist
- They want to protect their loved ones and family, but they have no clue what insurance agents are trustworthy
- They don’t understand the different clauses, terms, and choices within each tier insurance plan
- Your client may speak English as a second language and are frustrated because their questions aren’t answered
- They may have had a bad experience in the past with their insurance providers, so they don’t trust insurance agents
- They understand the value of insurance but aren’t sure they can afford the cost

Can you relate to any of these pain points? If so, then take note of them so you can work to address, cure and solve these problem areas that your insurance prospects likely face.
Also, consider that your area of insurance expertise might vary significantly. Your niche of insurance clientele may have specific and unique needs compared to other parts of the country, other demographics, other income levels, and insurance types.
The more you interact with your target insurance agent, the more you can develop ideas of what pain points they experience. The more you understand this information, the much easier it becomes when creating content, lead magnets, marketing funnels, and creatives.

Here’s How To Build An Awesome Lead Capture Page As An Insurance Agent That Converts
The good news is that building a decent marketing page, or a landing page is elementary these days thanks to all the drag and drop builders. Even if you don’t know how to program computer code, you can still launch an amazing marketing page that helps to promote your lead capture page, bridge page, or pre-sell page.
ClickFunnels and Thrive Architect are two of my favorite marketing and page builders. However, don’t take my word as gospel. I always advise you to research different marketing page builders! If you’re interested, I published a big list of page builder options here.

How Do You Followup With New Insurance Leads?
One other question you might have as an insurance agent, is what happens after you generate the lead?
In other words, how do you followup? That largely depends upon your followup plan. You have endless options. If you’ve read much of my content, then you know that I’m a huge fan of email marketing. Email marketing is my favorite choice for just about all marketing channels. Email marketing rocks!
Luckily, you have a boatload of email marketing options. One of my favorite options, due to the relatively low cost and ridiculous ease of use, is a simple email autoresponder.
Email Marketing Ideas For Insurance Agents?! But Wait, Isn’t Email Marketing Dead?
A lot of experts, gurus, and amateurs alike keep saying, writing about and blogging about how email marketing is dead. I couldn’t disagree more.
Think of it this way. Do you have an email address? Do your friends, colleagues, family members, and neighbors? The answer is likely an astounding “yes!”
While social media marketing, Podcast marketing, and YouTube marketing are all massive these days, I believe that email marketing is still the one piece that brings everything together.
So, if you agree that email marketing rocks, you’re probably wondering how you can use it effectively as an insurance agent.
