Has it ever frustrated you because you hear about other successful coaches, consultants and teachers, yet you just can’t seem to get noticed?
Because, after all that bad news, there is some good news. And that good news is that, consultants usually just want to help their end user.
If you’re a prospective consultant, then you probably know all about your ideal prospect, and how you can help them.
You’ve worked for a lifetime developing and honing your expertise, and now you want to improve the live’s of others.
That’s why it can be particularly frustrating when you’re unable to generate leads, and when no matter what lead generation methods you attempt, they fall short.
Why Email Marketing Is So Powerful For Selling Your Consulting Offer
I’m of the impression, after blogging and creating content since around June of 2010, that email marketing is one of the most effective methods to promote anything.
The coolest thing about email marketing, is that it’s such a versatile marketing method.
You can use emails to accomplish just about anything:
- You can use emails to poll your audience.
- You can use emails build rapport with your prospects.
- You can use emails to deliver the lead magnets to your new subscribers.
- You can use emails to promote your products, services, and consultancy offers.
- You can use emails to schedule your calls, deploy new promotions, or otherwise engage with your end users.
- You can use emails to automate super simple email sequences, or totally advanced monster marketing campaigns.
For all of these important reasons, I’ve personally endeavored to build my email list above just about any other goal.
That’s why email marketing, I think, is the perfect marketing strategy for not just consultants, but just about any other small business or tiny one-person teams (like us).
A Few Cool Ways You Can Use Email Marketing To Promote Your Consultancy Offers
Ask yourself this one question; how do the majority of businesses sell their products these days?
You’ll probably find that a ton of the most successful brands love to rely on videos to sell their content.
Webinars, video sales letters, or even YouTube videos can be a really cool way to either directly promote one of your offers, or to generate a lead.
So maybe you can create an awesome automated webinar campaign that’s designed to teach something that’s popular in your niche.
Or maybe you could brainstorm a really awesome video blog each week, or each month, and you could use that content to not only share awesome tips with your subscribers, but to also help promote your offers.
The coolest thing about all of these nifty little methods, is that email marketing is arguably the single best way to promote all of this content.
So with email marketing, you can try to promote just about any medium that you choose, whether it be a webinar, a video blog, a YouTube video, your social media profiles, an online poll, or even a direct promotional letter.
My Two Cents On Giving Away Your Consultancy Services Away For Free
Maybe you’re frustrated because you’re not sure which lead magnet might work the best for consultants?
I always tell my students that developing an awesome lead magnet always starts with your end users, AKA your ideal prospect.
So ask yourself, what’s something that you could offer to your prospects, for free, that they would truly find valuable?
Do you think, maybe you could offer your prospective clients a free consultancy call?
I know that a lot of marketers and entrepreneurs might totally loathe this idea (lol), however, there are a few interesting benefits to this lead magnet idea.
First of all, if you qualify your leads tightly enough when advertising, it might be easier to eliminate anyone likely to waste your time.
So in other words, when advertising your lead magnet via Pay Per Click channels, be sure to target your campaigns well enough so you know you’re only reaching your ideal audience.
In any event, one of the coolest benefits of this lead magnet idea, is that you’ll be able to showcase your expertise to end users who may actually require your services.
If they like your style, and if they are impressed by the free content you can provide, then maybe you can tell them about your premium consulting services.
How To Build An Email Marketing Funnel That Promotes Your Consultancy Offer
There are so many awesome email marketing funnels you can design using ClickFunnels.
After building websites for many years, and testing all kinds of different marketing tools, I like ClickFunnels the best.
ClickFunnels promotes a new type of funnel called a Hero Funnel, which I think can be really cool for consultants, coaches, experts, professionals, authors or even online teachers.
A Hero Funnel is designed to showcase some of your best work, introducing your brand, and your story, while at the same time as building your email list.
This way, you can prove to your end users that you’re a real person who wants to and is able to help them. You can show off some of the work that you’re most proud of, and you’ll have an awesome chance to talk bout what problems you solve, before you even invite them to subscribe.
There are a ton of other funnel types and there’s amble templates available, and you can customize everything using the super easy ClickFunnels editor.
So if you want to finally start building really cool marketing funnels, sales pages, survey funnels, webinar funnels, and other marketing pages, then you might love this.
The Perfect Lead Magnet For Your Consultancy Offer? Here Are A Few Powerful Ideas…
After building websites for many years, there’s one lesson that I finally learned that can be applied to just about any situation.
That lesson, is that your end users and their core frustrations matter more than anything.
So when you’re trying to craft an awesome upsell, offer, or marketing campaign, always ask yourself, what are the top frustrations that your prospects are having right now?
Know your marketplace enough to the point where crafting awesome content for them is a piece of cake.
If you know your audience well enough, then you’ll be in a powerful position to create awesome lead magnets.
Because you’ll already know what questions they’re asking, and how you can help.
Also remember that there are so many different mediums you can choose as a lead magnet; you can have a webinar, a video, a newsletter, or even an email course.
The most important thing, will always be your end user, and what frustrations and problems they have, and ultimately, how you can help them.
A Few Unique Methods Online Consultants Can Use To Promote Their Offers
I personally believe that email marketing is one of the coolest ways to promote anything.
That being said, the contrarian in me knows that creating beautiful email content is hard work.
That’s because it is hard work; creating any type of cool content is hard work!
But, it’s much easier if you know who your end user demographic is.
The best part about email marketing, is that if you try to make your email content awesome, then there’s a much bigger chance that your end users won’t immediately unsubscribe from your content (lol).
So ask yourself, what type of email newsletters could you write, that your audience might think is awesome?
Maybe you can answer frequently asked questions, share awesome resources, interview special guests, or brainstorm any other method to make your content interesting.
Maybe you could have an email newsletter each and every week that teaches a new topic in your niche.
At the end of the email newsletter, you could add a small call to action inviting your readers to schedule a call with you, click on your sales page, or even register for a webinar.
Some Other Smart Ways Online Consultants Can Build Their Email List
One thing I’m always trying to do, is create tutorials like this, other blog posts, email newsletters, online courses, and tons of ebooks.
In other words, I hustle nonstop in an effort to generate leads with content marketing.
So at the end of every blog post, video, Podcast, or any other piece of content, I usually try my best to promote one of my lead magnets.
That way, every single piece of content that I ever create, at least has the potential to generate leads.
Sure, it’s absolutely true, that content marketing isn’t the fastest lead generation method.
Anyone who says it is fast, probably has a massive audience to begin with so they have unfair advantages (lol).
In my opinion, small independent bloggers and businesses like us, have to work much more to get much less.
However, in my opinion, I love to create content anyway, and I personally love nothing more than to create content that helps people; because I’m truly passionate about my niche.
So, rant aside, if you’re passionate about your niche, then the best advice I can give you is to create awesome content that your ideal prospects will hopefully love.
If you can accomplish that, then I’m confident, at the very least, those who do happen upon your content might actually, and truly, appreciate it.
If that happens, then I believe, your prospects are statistically more likely to think you’re cool, and actually click your link to join your email newsletter, or to otherwise request access to your lead magnet.
Now, I realize that content marketing, blogging, Podcasting and YouTube video creation might sound like *way too much work* for other entrepreneurs out there, however, if you love creating content anyway, and if your marketing budget isn’t the biggest, then maybe it’s worth it to start creating awesome blog posts, and other types of content.
This is just my humble two cents of course, and I hope I don’t sound like I totally loathe content marketing (lol).
The truth is that I’m trying hard not to hype content marketing, because I love content marketing even if it doesrequire much work, consistent effort, and even a ton of luck.
Here Are A Few Smart Email Followup Ideas For Online Consultants
Before you start promoting your email marketing funnel, make sure that you have some awesome followup ideas planned, or otherwise fully automated.
Because what happens if you host your webinar, promote your first newsletter, or promote your first marketing campaign?
Well, if you’ve been building your email list, you now have a really cool asset that you can use to build more authority, help more people, and share more awesome content.
So, try your best to have an entire calendar stuffed to the brim with awesome topics you want to share, promotions you want to run, and maybe even survey that you want to send to your subscribers so that you can better understand how you can best help them.
That’s the power of emails by the way, you can use it to help accomplish so many cool things…
