If you’re an author and if you love to publish books, then maybe you’ve been frustrated because absolutely nobody is reading your content?
As someone who has published well over 40 Kindle books, I know how sad it can be when you work your heart out…
When you spend your entire life writing awesome books, and trying your best to provide entertainment, and value to your readers.
But, what happens when nobody ever reads your stuff?
That’s the most depressing feeling in the world, which is why I’m very passionate about how you can build an email list and generate leads for your publishing career simply by using ClickFunnels.
How Frustrating Is It, When You Feel Like Your Work As An Author Is All For Naught?
Have you ever cried your eyes out, or banged your clenched fist angrily against your desk because nobody ever reads your stuff?
I personally know how depressing and discouraging that can be, especially when you put forth an earnest effort to create awesome books.
That’s why I’m always preaching about how important email marketing is, even for authors.
Email Marketing Is One Of The Coolest Ways To Promote Your Books
And it doesn’t really matter what niche you’re in.
You might be writing books on IT security, on how to lose weight, on how to cook gourmet cookies, or maybe you’re writing about how to become a better online teacher.
The truth is that if you have an email list, it’s really an easy mechanism that you may use to write and keep in touch with your readers, to ask your readers for reviews, or to let your audience know about your latest book launch.
Here’s How Email Marketing Can Help You To Promote Both Physical And Digital Books
The beautiful thing about email marketing is that you can promote anything you want.
So if you have a digital book launch, on Kindle, or any other format, then you can easily promote your book via email marketing.
If you have a physical book, then you can easily promote that as well.
It’s as easy as writing a cool email update that tells your audience about your new upcoming book.
I’ve written these types of emails to my email list countless times, to not only promote my book, but I’ve also promoted my colleague’s books as an affiliate.
This type of email is super easy and super to write, and if your audience loves books then you can feel confident that your content is going to be well received.
Should You Give Your Book Away For Free To Your Email List?
Sometimes when I launch my books on Kindle I give them away for free.
The reason I have given my books away for free in the past, is because I wanted to get reviews, and I also wanted to do something cool for my list.
Many of my subscribers have been on my list for many years, and I’m always inviting my email subscribers to ask my any questions that they have.
To make a long story short, I’ve built insane rapport with many of my subscribers, so I’m therefore always trying my best to provide awesome content to them.
So, you don’t have to give your book away for free if you don’t want to, especially if you only have a few books.
However, if you’re prolific as heck, and publish a ton of books frequently, then you might consider giving free gifts away to your email list just as a thank you.
That rapport and prestige that you’re going to build by giving away awesome stuff to your email subscribers can go a long way, especially if you view your email list as a long-term asset, which is really what it is.
How To Build A Beautiful Lead Capture Page That Promotes Your Book
There are so many different lead generation funnel ideas that you can deploy if you’re using ClickFunnels.
ClickFunnels promotes a very specific book funnel that has worked tremendously for different marketers over the years.
There are also other funnel ideas that I’ve personally used.
So maybe you can give away a couple of your first chapters for free.
Maybe you can write a book specifically as a lead magnet.
Or maybe you can offer heavily discounted coupons for your subscribers.
The fact of the matter, is that you need a lead magnet that your prospective readers would find valuable enough to actually jump out of their chair and say “Yes!” to.
The Perfect Lead Magnet For Authors? There Isn’t Just One, You Know, There Are Many
The interesting of generating a lead magnet for your book publishing and authorship business, is that your lead magnet doesn’t necessarily have to be a book.
Just because you have intentions of selling books to your email leads further on down the line, doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to give away a book as a lead magnet.
Does that make sense?
So maybe you could create a video series, a PDF report, a free consultation, or absolutely any other cool freebie that you can think of.
Remember that the main goal of a lead magnet is to entice your ideal audience.
So ask yourself, what type of free goodies would your ideal prospects absolutely love?
Once you spend some time brainstorming this, you’ll be able to develop some really cool lead magnet ideas that your prospects will probably thank you for.
A Few Ideas On How Authors Can Promote Their Lead Capture Page
One of the best ways to promote your lead capture page, is by inserting a call to action in all of your books.
I recommend having two calls per action, one at the front of your book, and one at the back of your book.
The reason I pick these two locations specifically, is because many people will never finish your book.
And it doesn’t mean that you don’t have awesome content. I’m just saying that in my experience, for one reason or another, not everyone is going to read your book.
So, you may as well try to entice everyone to join your email list, even if they don’t finish your book right now.
Because maybe the prospective reader isn’t interested in one of your books, but who says that they won’t love your next book?
And, promoting your lead magnet at the end of your book is also a genius idea, because when somebody finishes your book, they are the ideal prospect to have on your email list.
Why is this the case?
Because, if somebody reads your entire book, then there’s a great chance that they love you as an author.
They know you, like you, and trust you, which is the ideal email prospect to have.
There Are A Ton Of Other Ways Authors Can Build Their Email List
Promoting your lead magnet and lead capture page within your books is just one way that you can promote your lead capture page.
There’s also paid advertising. Facebook, Google and Microsoft can serve you more website traffic than you could ever handle, and you can generate leads using any 3 of those.
There’s also the world of solo ads, which is when you pay an existing email marketer to promote your lead capture page directly to their own email newsletter.
Blogging is another super powerful method that I personally use to build my email list.
Every single time someone lands on my webpage, they’re greeted with a massive “Hello Bar”, and an exit intent popup that promotes my lead capture page.
I use a free service called AddThis.com to turn every single blog post, and every single page on my domain into an email list building asset, which is super important in my opinion if you blog and if you want to build an email list.
These are just a few of the methods that I personally use to build my email list, but remember there are so many ways that you can promote your lead capture page these days.
Here Are A Few Cool Email Marketing Followup Ideas For Authors
If you’re an author, there are other email marketing ideas that you can use to promote yourself, to help your audience, and to build massive goodwill that can last a lifetime.
First of all, whenever you publish a new book, then you might want to either give that book away for free to say THANKS to your email list, or you might want to promote that book.
But giving away books isn’t the only thing that you can do as an author.
You can also write awesome affiliate marketing campaigns.
There are awesome affiliate launches going on all the time, and you can earn commission simply by telling your audience about them.
You can also look for joint venture partners to promote. Maybe you can find an awesome webinar that you can promote as an affiliate.
That way, you can share awesome content with your audience, and hopefully earn a commission if they decide to buy anything on the webinar.
If you’re ever looking for webinars or cool affiliate programs to promote, then take a look on Facebook. There are a few really awesome webinar marketing groups on Facebook.
Simply request to join those groups, introduce yourself, and ask who has a cool affiliate webinar that you can promote.
I promise, you won’t have to look very far to find some really cool JV partners.
