Are You Frustrated Because It’s So Hard To Get Your Content And Your Business Noticed?
Or maybe you don’t even bother creating and sharing the content anymore, because nobody ever reads it?
Are you angry, or have you ever banged your head against the wall because all of the gurus talk about content marketing? But then, they never give you any solid strategy that you can quickly implement?
If that’s the case, then you’re going to love this guide.
This guide is all about content marketing strategy. So you can get more action from your content with the initial plan being to promote your funnel via content marketing.
This guide is perfect for newbies or experts. However, you must be willing to put in some work to create excellent content and to promote that content.
That said, I’m confident that this overall content marketing strategy is absolutely genius.
Here’s The Real Reason Why I’m Devilishly Obsessed With Content Marketing
Because I know how difficult it can be to share your message with the world.
I’ve had so many friends and colleagues who end up quitting their blogs because they get sick of writing for one reason or the other.
I don’t want that to be you. I don’t want you to quit blogging, to quite writing, and to quit sharing your excellent content.
That’s why I invite you to brainstorm with me as we talk about the most genius content marketing strategies for small business owners.
We’re talking about a content strategy that I use, and it’s a strategy that is perfect for those with a small budget. Even if you don’t have any considerable marketing guru pals or any colleagues at all, this content marketing strategy still rocks.
If you want to get more action from every single piece of content that you ever create, then read this guide.
Why Content Marketing Has Never Been So Important
There are two big reasons why content marketing is so unfathomably important.
The first reason is that paid advertising is obscenely expensive these days.
Through my research, I analyze a bunch of Pay Per Click software.
One startling thing I noticed is that the cost of Pay Per Click advertising is often obscenely high.
I’m talking about hundreds of dollars per click high.
For that one reason alone, content marketing is infinitely valuable. Doubly crucial for smaller marketers and entrepreneurs such as us, who don’t have thousands, tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands to spend on advertising.
Because in my opinion, content marketing, is one of the cheapest ways to advertise your business, or your blog, or your email newsletter, without going broke.
Here’s Why ClickFunnels Rocks, Even For Content Marketing!
When people talk about ClickFunnels, they usually discuss lead capture pages, book funnels, course funnels, and other forms of advanced and heavy-duty marketing automation.
They rarely talk about content marketing.
However, I contend, that content marketing is one of the best ways to promote your sales funnels, and lead capture funnels.
If you want to launch an excellent marketing funnel, then I recommend ClickFunnels. If you’re going to promote that funnel, then content marketing is a great strategy to consider.
There’s another big reason why content marketing is so important.
It’s because we don’t have much time! As humans on this planet, especially if we’re just a tiny one-person army, we’re strapped for time.
These content marketing strategies we’re about to dive into, are to have the maximum impact on your time. In other words, smart content marketing can help you to make the most out of your time, even if your time is dreadfully limited in supply.
So you can live your life to the fullest, while at the same time, squeezing every last drop of value from every single piece of content that you ever create.
The primary strategy is to create amazing content and to share that content on as many platforms as possible. Because, it’s infinitely easier to create a genius piece of content once, and then promote that effectively all over the internet.
Content Marketing Strategy Made Simple
The strategy is more important than tactics.
Over the years, I’ve noticed that technologies change so frequently.
Some marketing strategies stay the same:
- A strategy like knowing how to write a beautiful email marketing newsletter for any audience, and any purpose
- A plan like the importance of knowing your end-user demographics, what they want, and how you can help them
- A strategy like trying your best to create beautiful and fantastic content, and being aware of all of the different platforms where you can effectively repurpose that content
- An approach like creating massive value, good karma, and rapport with your prospects
That’s why a content marketing strategy is so powerful. Because content marketing strategy is vital and evergreen, while tactics can change overnight.
The Main Thing You Need For This Content Marketing Strategy To Work
You need fantastic content that is valuable to your end-user demographic. For this to occur, you need to understand your core audience on a deep level.
If you create excellent content, then content marketing is much more comfortable.
If people love your content, then it’s much easier to get them to click onto your ClickFunnels lead capture page, right?
It’s like my old professor at College always used to say.
He would always say, “Garbage In, Garbage Out.” In other words, you can’t turn a cement brick into gold. Or, in our case, you can’t turn a lousy piece of content into an excellent content marketing asset. You need a remarkable piece of content first.
So, how can you create excellent content in the first place?
The most important thing to remember is your audience.
What are the top 10 things that frustrate them? What are the top 10 questions that they have?
Also, remember that these questions change with time.
Your end-users and your target demographic is living and breathing humans. Their experience, their thoughts, their opinions, their desires, and their knowledge change with time.
Your audience changes with time:
- Their needs change their sophistication changes
- Their understandings of your niche changes
- Everything changes with time
The point of me ranting about this is because your knowledge of your end-users isn’t something that you can learn once and then ignored after that.
It’s an ever-evolving entity.
However, this isn’t meant to be bad news.
The ever-changing world is excellent news for your content marketing efforts.
Because, as the world changes, as technology changes, and as your end-users change, then you’re going to have new content ideas. Change creates infinite content creation possibilities!
So, I always try to keep in touch with your audience. Ask your audience questions and invite them to ask you questions.
That’s one of the best marketing lessons that I’ve ever learned. Keep a close eye on your target audience, so you can speak to them across all channels in language that clicks with them. Then you can create rich content that helps them and brainstorm killer promotions that resonate with their mass desires.
How To Include A Clever Call To Action In All Of Your Content
I want I’d to speak briefly about the primary goal of my content marketing. I’d also like to propose a potential genius purpose for your content marketing.
Every single piece of content that I ever create has one purpose.
That one purpose is to include some call to action. Usually, I want to promote an affiliate link, my email newsletter, a webinar registration page, or some marketing funnel. At the end of the day, what I want is to promote my email newsletter.
I love to create content. But, I can’t create content just for fun. The content needs to benefit my blog, my website, or my email newsletter in some way.
I have many thousands of Twitter followers. I also have many thousand followers between LinkedIn and Pinterest. But, nothing touches my email newsletter as far as reliability is concerned.
Because email marketing is dirt cheap, it’s direct response marketing. That’s one too many, yet it has the fantastic benefit of being highly personalized and intimate. Most critically, email marketing is also the right marketing platform that you own.
You own your email list. It’s something that virtually nobody can take away from you.
The control you have with your email list is unlike every other platform, with a super long term of service. I’ve known so many people over the years who get suspended from Twitter, YouTube, Google, Facebook, Amazon, and you name it.
After building their audience on a third-party platform, it’s too easy to get bullied or to lose control of your account for one way or the other. You never own a third party platform!
That’s why controlling your email newsletter is the ultimate safety net for any entrepreneur because you own that email newsletter platform and email list.
Benefits of email marketing:
- Email marketing allows you to promote absolutely anything that you want.
- Email marketing will enable you to poll your audience.
- Email marketing will allow you to improve your ClickFunnels funnels.
- Email marketing will allow you to promote affiliate offers, network marketing offers, or anything.
- And email marketing will allow you to launch beautiful promotions, so you can share excellent content while promoting your business all at the same time.
- Email marketing is absolutely dirt cheap these days. There are a handful of email platforms that you can experiment with for free.
The main point of mentioning this is because email marketing is a great way to promote anything. Therefore, you should try to help your email newsletter with content marketing! That way, all of the content you create can work hard in an endeavor to build your most exact marketing asset, which is your email list.
Email newsletters allow you to promote your products, promote your social media profiles, and promote your content. You can also build a relationship that lasts a lifetime with your prospects. Start by sharing valuable content with them and inviting them to ask any questions that they ever have.
How ClickFunnels Can Help Your Content Marketing Efforts Big Time
All the content marketing in the world won’t do you any good unless you have a hook of some type.
Imagine if you create 1,000 fantastic blog posts, but you never promote anything. What’s going to happen?
Well, you’ll probably develop massive good karma, which is a great thing. But, will you ever make any sales? Maybe, and maybe not. Not if you never promote a call to action of some type.
If your content never has a call to action, and if you never promote anything, then why would anyone buy anything from you? You’ve never given them a chance!
In other words, why bother creating tons of excellent content marketing material if you don’t have anything to promote?
That’s where ClickFunnels comes in.
After building websites for countless years, I honestly think that ClickFunnels is one of the best ways to create excellent marketing funnels. The best part is that you don’t require any fancy marketing or tech skills to use ClickFunnels.
ClickFunnels allows you to build the following quickly:
- Lead capture pages
- Book funnels
- Course funnels
- Membership funnels
- Ecommerce funnels
- Squeeze page funnels
- Webinar marketing funnels
- Hero funnels
- Landing pages
- And more!
The main idea of content marketing is to share excellent content.
Then, at the end of the content, why not gently pitch one of your marketing funnels? If people love your content, then they might appreciate your premium services!
Maybe you have a free lead magnet, a free course, a free webinar, or some bonus that you promote at the end of your content. ClickFunnels makes creating these types of marketing assets pure. In fact, after consulting with countless students and IT customers over the years, I can confidently state that ClickFunnels is one of the simplest ways to launch a beautiful marketing campaign.
The entire strategy is to create fantastic content. Then, at the end of the content, you tenderly pitch your funnel. Simple enough, right?
It All Starts With Your First Piece Of Content
I learned a long time ago that I’m at a huge disadvantage.
I’m only a one-person team. I cannot afford to hire a team of copywriters to create content for me.
I’m the only source for content creation in my business.
Therefore, the smartest content marketing strategy for me, (and other small entrepreneurs), is to repurpose content as much as possible.
Not only repurpose but promote! The worst mistake I’ve made over the years is focused too much on content creation. I create heaps of content, and then, I never promote the content anywhere. What an unfortunate and deadly mistake!
These days, I try to publish my content on my blog, on social media, and also on my email newsletter. At the minimum! That way, I can get the most leverage from my content as possible.
I advise you, and all business owners to repurpose your content. That way, you can reach a bigger audience without much more effort. But they must repurpose the content without any fear of duplicate content penalties from Google.
In other words – if you publish the same blog post on 100 different blogs, then Google isn’t going to reward you that much. Duplicate content isn’t ideal.
How To Repurpose Your Blog Content Without Spamming On 100 Different Blogs?
Let’s say you have a fantastic blog post.
By itself, a blog post, honestly, isn’t that exciting.
But there are so many amazing things that you do with a blog post.
I use one single piece of content about 15 different ways.
Because it’s much easier to come up with a beautiful and fantastic piece of content once, and then repurpose that content 15 different times, than it is to create 15 excellent pieces of content.
And if you’re creating excellent content, then it’s so wise of you to get the most out of it.
Regarding the content itself, I try to create one unique piece of content every single week. Then I have an entire repurposing process that I execute every time.
How To Easily Include A Call To Action In All Of Your Content Marketing Efforts Regardless Of The Platform
Every single piece of content that I publish also has a call to action. It’s as simple as letting your audience know that you have an excellent gift, free training, or an open course. Or, offer some cool gift that you made (with love) for them.
So if I write a piece of content about email marketing, I’ll try my best to promote an email marketing related lead magnet. So, I can insert a call to action that says something like this:
“If you appreciated this content and want to learn more about email marketing, then I invite you to download one of my best books! The book is “How To Build An Email List On A Budget,” and you can download this gift for free by visiting MrComputerScience.com/goodies
When you visit MrComputerScience.com/goodies, you’re going to get 17 of my best marketing reports, plus a ton of surprise goodies!”.
This way, every single piece of content that I ever create is promoting my lead magnet and advertising my email list.
I usually create one piece of content per week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. However, I always aim to create at least one new blog post per week.
I try my best to make the content awesome because I then share that content everywhere in different formats.
That one single piece of content stretches to the outer limits.
Then, when people land on my blog, they see a ton of calls to action. Those calls to action might promote affiliate offers, my email list, my lead magnet, or anything that I want. That’s the beauty of content marketing. You can help anything that your affable heart desires.
Content marketing allows me to build my email list, and I can also promote any product I want within my email funnel. I’ll talk more about email funnels in later detail.
The point of everything I’ve just said is that you can repurpose your one original blog post like crazy. Turn your blog into a ton of different formats. We’re just scratching the surface!
We’re about to reveal some truly genius content marketing strategy.
The Most Powerful Way To Repurpose Your Blog Posts
My favorite way to repurpose blog content and my ideal way to promote my blog is with my email newsletter.
If you’re on my email list, you know this is true. Around once per week, I share a new blog post with my subscribers. Easy peasy.
But, there’s a considerable nuance here. What type of call to action should I include on my blog?
Of course, it would be foolish to promote my lead capture page within the email newsletter content. Because the people reading that content, in this case, are already subscribed to my newsletter.
So what I do, is add some affiliate links on my blog. That way, my subscribers will hopefully click on my ads over on my blog. If I create fresh content, then probably, they will consider listening to my recommendations!
I’ll usually promote an affiliate product based upon the demands of my end users.
Let’s pretend that I created a piece of content about email marketing.
I might have a call to action like the following:
“Thanks So Much For Checking My Latest Blog Post! You Rock!
If you want to learn more about email marketing, then you’ll love this resource that lets you swipe email list building and sales funnels.
If you want to use these proven sales funnels for your business, so you can start building an email list fast, then click here to check it out.
You’ll discover the three biggest email list building tips, and you can also swipe three done for you sales funnels that are battle-tested-and-proven!”
This strategy is the coolest thing in the world. I used to be so stressed out about how I could have enough energy to write blog posts and create content for my email newsletter. These days? My blog posts and my email newsletter content are the same content!
I learned a long time ago that as an online teacher and as a blogger, and as an email marketer, it could be next to impossible to create content every week without going insane. Content creation is especially taxing if you’re a small, one-person team. (Like many of us are).
Repurposing your content is the perfect content marketing strategy because I’m frequently publishing fantastic content on my blog. I’m also using that content to promote my offers, courses, and affiliate links.
Then, I take that same content and turn it into email newsletter content. I change the call to action on that content, and I can promote absolutely anything that I want.
Maybe an affiliate product, an upcoming webinar, one of my courses, a book, or absolutely anything.
This way, I’m creating compelling content, sharing awesome stuff, and monetizing my email newsletter without being a pest.
Another Genius Method To Get More Power From Every Blog Post You Ever Write
If you write blog posts, then you may as well turn that content into a Podcast!
Turning your blog post into a Podcast is the most natural thing in the world.
Did you know that all of my online courses were books first? Once I write a book, it’s super easy to turn that book into a class. The script ready! The same strategy is right when turning your blog post into a Podcast.
The strategy is simple. You can read your blog post word for word, record your recital, and then upload it to your favorite podcast platform. You can get a Podcast host for cheap. A decent USB microphone will cost you $30 – $100 on Amazon. Your blog content? Well, hopefully, that’s free.
The cool part about having a Podcast is that you can promote anything you want for a call to action. If you have an excellent ClickFunnels lead capture page, a membership funnel, or a webinar funnel? Then you could easily promote that during your Podcast.
That way, your blog content hustles to promote your lead capture page or your marketing funnels, and now your Podcast is too.
I have launched a Podcast on two different occasions now. I stopped Podcasting because I am a shy introvert who prefers to write content instead (lol).
However, please don’t my shortcomings to become yours. I advise practically all bloggers to launch a Podcast. Simply because, if you create blog post content, then it’s ridiculously easy to turn that content into Podcast content — no more heavy lifting.
I have every intention of launching my Podcast for the third time! This time, hopefully, I muster the courage to carry through. Podcasting is such a powerful method to repurpose your blog content. Seriously. In my opinion, all bloggers would be insane not to run a Podcast.
How To Record Your Voice Using A 100% Free App
I use Audacity to record every single piece of audio that I ever produce. I’ve created many online courses, and Audacity is the recording app that I use 99.99% of the time.
Audacity is a 100% free recording app, and after testing out many apps over the years, Audacity is honestly the gold standard of voice recording, in my opinion.
Once you have a .mp3 file, that you can create with Audacity, you can then upload that .mp3 file into your Podcast hosting account. I recommend Libsyn, simply because their service is a steal at only $5 per month.
Here’s the genius part about Podcasting. It’s a great way to promote your blog, your ClickFunnels marketing funnel, or anything that you want.
Once you have the podcast up and running, you can also promote that Podcast on a ton of different content channels.
Podcasting is beautiful, it’s a super-smart strategy, and it’s a terrific mechanism upon which to build your audience. You can promote your blog, your ClickFunnels lead capture pages, your email newsletter, and your business while at your whim. All the while, you’re sharing great content and generating good karma.
The 6 Coolest And Easiest Ways To Promote Your Podcasts
Once you have a Podcast, there are endless ways that you can promote it.
When I first got started Podcasting, I was so confused with how it worked. Finding a simple and easy method to understand everything you need seemed daunting and impossible.
The first thing you need with your Podcast, from a tech perspective, is a Podcast host. Your host allows you to upload your .mp3 files easily. Your host also gives you an RSS feed containing a list of your Podcasts in a way that the Podcast directories out there can easily read.
So, when you register to a Podcast host, they are going to give you your RSS feed.
Once you have your RSS feed URL, you can submit your Podcast into the best Podcast directories like Apple Itunes, Stitcher, Google Play, and TuneIn.
# 1 – Promoting Your Podcast within Apple Podcasts
Apple Podcasts, previously iTunes, is a massively popular Podcast directory and is also super easy to consider. Apple Podcasts is the biggest Podcast directory that I know of, so submitting your content here is a genius idea. The way it works is that you create a Podcast RSS feed with your host. You then argue that RSS feed to Apple, and then if you are approved, your Podcast will be listed within the iTunes website. Your new Podcast feed automatically updates whenever you upload a new Podcast episode to your podcast host.
# 2 – Promoting Your Podcast Within Stitcher And Google Play
Stitcher, to my knowledge, is the second or third biggest Podcast directory. Google Play is also hugely popular. So, it’s a genius move to submit your RSS feed to these two services. They make it easier to share your content with the world.
# 3 – Promoting Your Podcast Within Your Blog
Remember that your Podcast content is essentially the same as your blog. So, why not embed a Podcast player at the top of your content? That way, if someone happens upon your blog, they can read it, or they can click the play button to listen to the podcast instead.
There’s a ton of reasons why embedding your Podcast in your blog is super powerful. The main reason is that, if someone sits on your blog for 5- or 10-minutes listening to your content. In my opinion, signals such as time spent on a page are critical search engine ranking factors across most major search engines.
When listeners hear your voice, in my opinion, this is going to increase the odds of building rapport with them statistically. Hopefully, if you frequently share fantastic content, you can also work to cement yourself as an expert.
# 4 – Promoting Your Podcast On WordPress.com
In addition to promoting your podcast on your blog, I propose that you create an entirely different blog on WordPress.com.
There’s one compelling reason why I love WordPress.com. First, WordPress.com is free, and it’s also one of the most popular websites on the planet. The last time I checked, WordPress was ranked the 52nd most popular website on the earth.
More importantly, is that when someone follows your blog on WordPress.com, they automatically get an email when you publish a new post.
At this point, I have a few hundred bloggers following my blog on WordPress.com. So, each time I post a new entry, those people get an email update. Therefore, and in my opinion, WordPress.com is a fantastically powerful blogging platform that can play a significant role in your content marketing strategy.
Sharing your Podcast content on social and blog platforms is a genius way of using not only WordPress.com but also other blogging platforms. Always consider future blogging platforms or social media platforms that may not exist yet. Whatever those future platforms are, and however they function, I’d wager that you can easily plug your Podcast episodes into that platform.
So, this is a super powerful evergreen strategy, and I believe, is one of the most potent content marketing ideas ever. Podcasting rocks!
I’d also like to mention, that you can easily embed your Podcast right within your WordPress post by merely pasting the URL of your Podcast episode. That way, a cool looking media player is right there, so it’s easy for your readers to listen to your post.
# 5 – Promoting Your Podcast On Tumblr.com
Tumblr is another super popular blogging platform and is another excellent opportunity for you to promote your Podcast.
Tumblr allows you to embed the link of your Podcast URL so that your followers can listen with a handy-dandy media player without any tech hurdles.
Updating your followers and sharing your Podcast episode on Tumblr only takes a few minutes. It’s a smart and ethical way to spread your content marketing message with the world while being super cool, and hopefully building up a Tumblr audience.
One final note is that Tumblr is ridiculously easy to use. There are absolutely no tech skills required to configure a secure, yet elegant blog platform in a matter of minutes.
# 6 – Promoting Your Podcast On Blogger.com
Blogger is Google’s blogging platform that is super intuitive and easy to use. You can easily embed your Podcast files on your Blogger blog without any confusion or HTML skills required.
You can create a new post. Give your followers an update. Maybe talk briefly about the topic at hand. Then, it’s super easy to embed the Podcast episode quickly.
How To Create Super Simple Videos For Content Marketing?
Text, audio, and video are the Trifecta of content marketing. What other formats can your content possibly contain?
But many of my students and colleagues wonder how they can create simple videos for content marketing purposes.
The most straightforward answer is to create cool PowerPoint presentations and then screencast yourself, giving a presentation. Very simple to use. All of my online video courses use a process very similar to this.
I record all of my video presentations using a very inexpensive piece of software called ActivePresenter, which is perfect. I also use an app called Camtasia. Either of those apps rock and they can help you to record beautiful videos without any hassle.
I also create fantastic PowerPoint presentations using Microsoft Office 365. The latest version of Microsoft PowerPoint makes it elementary to create fantastic-looking slides that look beautiful.
For the images to make my slides look cool, I use a site called PixaBay.com, which has an endless amount of beautiful royalty-free photos. After scrounging the planet for the best royalty-free image site, in my opinion, PixaBay.com is the best, and it’s the only image source that I use. And I mean that it’s the single free image site that I ever use.
Finding The Motivation To Create Your First Blog Post!
I know how depressing it is when you want to create an excellent blog post but can’t motivate yourself.
One thing that’s always worked for me is to consider your content marketing strategy.
Focus on how you can help your end-user and your ideal prospect.
Ask yourself, how can you help them to the best of your ability?
What type of content would they love to read?
Most importantly, never forget your call to action.
Nothing can help motivate you when you see people going through your marketing funnel.
Your marketing funnel is an excellent mechanism upon which to measure your results.
If you see that your new blog posts are generating affiliate clicks?
And if you notice that your content marketing strategy is actually showing results?
Then nothing in the world can be as motivating!
Thank you so much for reading this content marketing guide!
