Let’s go into much deeper detail regarding my favorite lead generation and email list building tips for freelancers!
# 1 – Old School Lead Capture Page Campaigns
If you’re a freelancer, then one of your greatest assets is your list of clients and prospective clients! That’s one of the main reasons why I love lead capture page campaigns. They’re time tested, and they’ve been around since the start of email marketing.
If you’re a freelancer, then there are tons of lead magnets that you can give away to help generate an email lead.
A lot of marketers argue as to who created the traditional lead capture page. I can tell you, that I don’t know the honest answer! However, I’ve been the unwilling witness to several dozen marketers claiming that they are the genuine inventor! (lol).
However, and in any event, I can honestly say that I’ve been building websites since I was a tiny kid in Junior High (decades ago). Since that time, I’ve witnessed many dozens, if not hundreds of lead capture page styles. Lead capture pages rock, and I don’t that they make for an invaluable addition into your marketing arsenal as a freelance!
# 2 – Launch An Automated Webinar Funnel
Automated webinars are still one of my favorite methods to get the word out about just about any business.
As a freelancer, you might be thinking, “But Mike, this is crazy! Webinars don’t work for freelancers!”
That said, I honestly believe that webinars are one of the best branding mechanisms for any business.
Why do webinars rock? Because they let you brand yourself, share fantastic content, and they’re also a great way to promote your freelancing services.
Another great benefit of webinars is that you can use them to generate leads. before your prospective clients subscribe to view your webinar, you ask for their email address. You can then follow up with your leads over the long-haul whenever you have an open slot, availability, new service, or if you want to share updates.
ClickFunnels makes it elementary to launch and deploy beautiful automated webinar funnels that take all of the guesswork out of branding your message in a way that looks wonderfully elegant.
# 3 – Launch A Hero Funnel
If you were dangling me over the edge of a cliff, and you asked, “Mike! What’s the best type of funnel for a freelancer?” – I might answer a hero funnel!
There are a few reasons why hero funnels rock for freelancers. A hero funnel is all about branding you and telling your story. Put yourself and your style front and center with a fantastic hero funnel!
That way, you can let your prospective and existing clients know about the real you. A hero funnel also rocks for sharing your portfolio. So, if you’re a freelance writer, then you can promote your favorite writing samples, blog posts, ebooks, email swipes, or other content that you’d love to share and show off.
The best part about ClickFunnels is that they have the best hero funnel templates I’ve ever seen. Even if you’re not the savviest marketer on the planet, you can still find an abundant wealth of fantastic and chic hero funnel templates perfect for your freelancing business.
As always, revising and customizing the hero funnel template is preposterously straightforward utilizing the ClickFunnels drag and drop editor.
# 4 – Launch A Survey Funnel
Survey funnels pose a few significant advantages for freelancers. First, a survey funnel allows you to pre-screen your prospects before they contact you.
Why is pre-screening so powerful? This way, you can find out exactly what your prospective clients want before you even contact them.
Another huge benefit of a ClickFunnels survey funnel is that you can then segment your new leads according to their demands, their income, or their marketing budget.
So, if you’re looking for a high profile client or a client with specific needs, then you can use a survey funnel to help isolate and followup with your leads strategically and according to your overall freelance plan.
# 5 – Launch An Email Newsletter Funnel
Email newsletters are still one of my favorite methods for lead generation. If you look closely at this blog, you’ll see that I promote my email newsletter everywhere!
I promote my email newsletter in the header of the blog, in the navigational menu, and also via a welcome bar!
I think that email newsletters are still one of the best ways to build rapport, share your content, and of course, to generate leads. The best thing about email marketing is that you can also promote your freelancing gigs, schedules, and availability.
A lot of freelancers believe that email marketing won’t work for them. My advice, is to remember that if you love to create content, then you have nearly endless email newsletter ideas that you could write and deploy on a weekly, monthly, or even a daily basis!
Think about tips, updates, videos, tutorials, blog posts, or even YouTube videos in your niche that you could integrate into your overall email marketing strategy.
At the end of every email newsletter, you could include a short call to action that promotes your freelance schedule, or your freelance sales page.
Of course, ClickFunnels makes it tremendously simple to launch a beautiful email newsletter funnel without stress. If you’re interested, check out some of the squeeze page templates, lead magnet templates, and lead generation templates in the ClickFunnels back office. There’s almost too many to choose from, which is a high-quality problem for all freelancers to have! ๐
# 6 – Launch A Free Email Course
Can you think of 5, 7, 12, or 25 lessons that your prospective freelance client needs to know about and consider? If so, then you should create a fantastic email course!
The way email courses work is simple. The first choice is to decide how long you want your email course to last. Email courses are usually anywhere from 7-21 days, and you get to decide the type of content that your course contains.
If you’re not sure where to start, ask yourself this one simple question. What are the top 5, 7, 10, or 14 lessons that your prospective freelance client needs to know? Craft these tips into a handful of amazing emails that go out to your email subscribers daily for the set interval of time that you decide.
When you write your email course, don’t hold back! Try your best to include the best content possible, so that your prospective clients appreciate your efforts.
At the end of every email, you can easily include a call to action for your freelance writing services. So, you can include a sales letter, an order page, a video sales letter, or you can even promote your freelance profile in a third-party marketplace should you wish.
# 7 – Launch A Bridge Page That Promotes Your Third-Party Marketplace Listing
Do you like to promote your freelance services or business in a third-party marketplace like Fiverr, Freelancer, Upwork, and others? If so, then a bridge page might be a genius marketing tactic to deploy.
But, what happens if you don’t want to spend paid advertising promoting that third-party marketplace? The answer is to launch an awesome bridge page!
The way a bridge page works is simple. You launch a simple landing page that promotes one of your calls to action.
So, maybe you could launch a page with a brief introduction video describing your freelance projects, rates, and also your commitment to creating fantastic results for your client.
Underneath the video, you could advertise your third-party marketplace links. Another option is to promote your sales page, order form, or survey funnel – all of which you can easily create using ClickFunnels.
The best part about your bridge page is that you can promote and advertise your bridge page wherever you have the chance.
Plug the bridge page on social media, in your email signatures, on your blog, or anywhere else you (and your ideal clients) hang out online.
Conclusion
In our modern gig economy, you’ve never had this many opportunities to get the word out about your services and to advertise your freelancing business.
