What Can This Curmudgeonly Tech Nerd Teach You About Marketing?
One question that my awesome students always ask, is how their marketing pages are going to convert.
Maybe they have a lead capture page, a sales page, a webinar registration page, or even an e-commerce store.
The truth is that there’s only ONE way that I know of to see what works.
The Only Way To See What Marketing Page Is Going To Convert?
That one way, is to actually test the marketing creative by sharing it with your ideal audience.
This reminds me of all the time I spent troubleshooting different IT related systems over the years.
The only way to know for SURE if a router, operating system, laptop, encryption algorithm, or new video card is going to work – is by actually testing it.
It’s Okay To Have A Wild Guess, But Just Remember Prior To Testing, That’s All You Have.
Before you test, all you have is a guess! 🙂
Everything you do prior to testing, is simply a hypothesis, and nothing more.
This computer science philosophy translates perfectly to the marketing world.
In other words, you must drive traffic to see how your page will convert.
You have to test it. That’s the surest way, and I dare say the only reliable way to see what works.
Our Two Cents… Doesn’t Mean A Thing.
It’s a blast to form some type of hypothesis regarding how your marketing campaign is going to convert.
But, our opinions never matter!
Because, always remember that OUR opinion, as IT nerds, bloggers, writers, teachers, marketers, advertisers and digital publishers never really matters.
You might think that your lead capture page is going to convert really well, and then it flops.
On the other hand, you might think that your page is going to flop, but then it converts great!
The Only Thing That Matters…
The opinion of the end user, and the action that they take, is the most important thing. Our opinions? They don’t matter much, if at all, lol.
I hope you had fun reading this newsletter, and the main tip I’m trying to get across is that by testing things, you can see what really works; anything else is just a guess, or a hypothesis.
