Here’s Why Email Marketing Is More Critical Than Ever For Bloggers
I have been steadily publishing new blog posts on this simple (yet nerdy) MrComputerScience.com blog for many years now! I am perpetually thankful that I began collecting email addresses on day one.
For now, let us discuss in further detail why bloggers should build an email list ASAP – shall we?
# 1 – Email Marketing Is Arguably The Best Way For Bloggers To Promote New Blog Posts
I have an affluence of experience writing. I do not mention this to gloat – but I kill hours writing daily. I can also say, without equivocation, that my email list is one of the most dependable methods I use to promote my blog posts dependably.
If you are familiar with my work, then you know that I periodically report sorrowful stories about bloggers I have known over the years. Some of the most technically savvy, and most faithful writers – ultimately quit their blog!
One of the reasons some bloggers quit is that they get downcast. I can tell you from experience – one of the most discouraging things in the world is when you publish a beautiful blog post, only to have NOBODY read your content.
As I and many long-term bloggers know – simply brainstorming and publishing a blog post guarantees nothing. In other words – just because you distribute good blog posts, does not promise that ANYONE will EVER read your stuff. Sad, right?
That is why I am irrationally committed to the world of email marketing – especially for bloggers. Email marketing, and your newsletter base, in my opinion, are the most logical methods to promptly get the word out about your new blog posts. That way, at the very least, you never have to suffer the anxiety of nobody reading your content.
# 2 – Email Marketing Can Help Bloggers To Promote Their Affiliate Offers Without Stress
I am madly in love with affiliate marketing! I also contend that all bloggers should consider affiliate marketing as a splendid method to help monetize their blogs! Unless you already have products, courses, or books to sell – affiliate marketing is wondrous, especially for bloggers.
That is another chief reason that email marketing rocks for blogging. I indeed cherish my blog for allowing me to artfully sprinkle my content with affiliate links. However, I also treasure my email newsletter for helping to promote affiliate links as well. Why not combine both avenues?
So, let us pretend that you find an amazing product launch that can be of service to your subscribers. You could then spend some time crafting an amazing email campaign that helps promote and introduce the product launch as an affiliate.
Or, you could write a review that explains your experience with the product explicitly. At the end of the review, you could include an affiliate link. Optionally, you can also include some bonuses to any subscribers (or readers) who buy via your affiliate link. In my opinion? Reviews make for excellent email newsletter content, which is another reason that email marketing owns – especially for bloggers.
# 3 – Email Marketing Also Rocks For Advertising Your Books, Product Launches, Course Launches, Et Cetera
As a dedicated blogger, you are in love with the art and science of writing. Right? That is why you might have other products and projects that you wish to share with your audience.
In other words – do you have books, products, challenges, funnels, or courses that you want to launch as a blogger?
If so, then congratulations! Email marketing is one of the smartest (and most electric) ways to help spread the word about your latest product launch with style.
That is another reason that I am constantly trying to build my email list as a blogger – and it is why I encourage you to do the same.
# 4 – Email Marketing Is Ludicrously Inexpensive For Bloggers
I remember when I was a new blogger, email marketing was complicated – and expensive. Not only did you have to know how to use complex email marketing software, but you also had to shell out a boatload of cash to get up and running.
If you did not know how to code? Then forget email marketing! Building a serviceable lead capture page was like pulling teeth from a sabretooth lion (or a frothing-at-the-mouth dragon.)
Luckily, these days, email marketing is ridiculously easy and affordable. You can use services like Mailchimp or MailerLite without spending a single penny. I am also a huge fan of AWeber, and I have been using AWeber for years. AWeber is remarkably affordable, and their customer support, in my opinion, is some of the most dependable around.
# 5 – Email Marketing Can Help Skyrocket Your Authority And Good Karma As A Blogger
This is going to sound like I am bragging (again), lol. But, the truth is, that I love to help people. As an online teacher, I have spent innumerable volumes of time helping students who ask questions.
When someone asks a question, I always try to overdeliver to the point where I “wow” the student. The same is true with my blog and my email newsletter!
One thing that I always tell my email marketing students, is that they should invite their subscribers to ask questions. Try your best to help your subscribers. And, if your subscribers ever ask you a question? Then word to the wise. Bend over backward trying to help them!
That way, your subscribers will appreciate you. If your email newsletter also includes FREE support and brainstorming council from you, then your email newsletter is that much more valuable.
Also – if you want your subscribers to REMEMBER you, and LIKE you, then helping them one on one, is, in my opinion, one of the most immeasurable things you can ever do as a blogger.

Email Marketing For Bloggers FAQs And General Email Marketing FAQs
I have been blogging and writing email newsletters for a long time. I have also studied the most popular blogging FAQs and email marketing FAQs. At this time, I would love to share answers to some of the most popular questions you are likely to encounter.
# 1 – Is WordPress The Best Blogging Platform For New Bloggers?
In my opinion? Yes! WordPress is excellent! I remember the first time I saw WordPress, I could not believe how amazing the platform was, lol.
My friend (who did not know how to code) showed me their blog. I was shocked at how amazing their blog looked! I was immediately jealous!
From that point forward, I became obsessed with WordPress. In my opinion, WordPress is one of the coolest blogging platforms for novice and advanced bloggers alike.
That said – please make no mistake. Other blogging platforms are stellar and amazing too. My advice is to choose the blogging platform that you like the most. Do not choose WordPress simply because I say. However, in my opinion, you certainly cannot go wrong with WordPress.
# 2 – How Much Does Email Marketing Cost?
How does 100% free sound? Email marketing does not have to cost you a single penny if you are just getting started. Check out MailerLite or Mailchimp if you want a free (or ridiculously cheap) email marketing platform.
If you intend on building an email list, then I encourage you to read one of my best blog posts on the topic of email list building insights and lead generation tips. If you adore email marketing, and if you do not have the biggest budget, then I wrote this content for you.
# 3 – How Can New Bloggers Build An Email List?
One of the best email list building tips I can give you is to create lots of content and tell everyone about your email newsletter. Take my humble blog as an example.
Do you see that I have several calls to action inside of this very blog post inviting you to register for my newsletter?
I also have invitations at the beginning of the blog post, and the end of the blog post! I even have an exit popup on some sections of my blog that invite new readers to subscribe. (I am a fan of AddThis.com to help create amazing exit popups. AddThis.com is a 100% free tool from the legendary team over at Oracle. I am a proud fan.)
The point is to promote your email list building funnel everywhere. Let your readers know that you regularly publish an awesome email newsletter!
If you want additional email list building tips, then read this classic guide I wrote about how to generate email leads and get website traffic. This is one of the most composed articles I have on the topic, so I hope you enjoy the read.
# 4 – How Long Should New Bloggers Wait To Launch Their Email List?
Do not wait a single minute. In other words, launch your email list as soon as you begin a blog! That way, you can immediately begin to promote your email newsletter inside your premier blog post. Why wait?
Imagine if you launch a blog post, and everyone loves your content. Would you not feel terrible if you missed out on potential subscribers? What if there were readers who would have LOVED to subscribe – but you never made them the offer? Why not promote your email newsletter prominently right out of the gate? Food for thought!
# 5 – How Frequently Should Bloggers Send New Email Newsletters?
This is a hugely philosophical question that I have thought about immensely over the years. The short answer is to write as often as you can muster the creative energy.
If you feel comfortable writing weekly email newsletters? Then write weekly. If you feel comfortable writing more often? Then consider writing more often.
Earlier in life, I would send one (or even TWO or THREE) emails per day to my subscribers! Sounds insane right? No matter your email frequency, make sure to set expectations upfront. The idea is to let your subscribers know UPFRONT how regularly you intend on emailing them. That way, they are never surprised (or irritated) at your email frequency.
These days, I only write about one email per week. I set expectations upfront, and I try my best to send quality over quantity.
No matter what you do – try your best to set expectations, and never send low-quality content.
Conclusion
I thank you cordially for reading this blog post about email newsletters, email list building, and email marketing for bloggers.

As always, I hope you enjoy a remarkable day! Please let me know if you have questions or need blogging help.

Cordially…
